Remember that no donation is too small! Donating $40 will pay for a child to attend our free afterschool program for a quarter and $120 will cover the cost for a child to attend our afterschool and summer programs for an entire year.

Start your visit to the Guadalupe-Nipomo Dunes Complex off on the right foot by visiting the Dunes Interpretive Visitor Center in Guadalupe. We can provide visitor information, directions, local knowledge and expertise, guided walks, exhibits, and field guides.

Lost City of DeMille Artifact Unveiling!
Friday June 14th from 6pm to 8:30pm ($5.00 Admission, NARM Members Free)

Join the Dunes Center as we unveil the latest artifacts in our exhibit entitled "The Lost City of DeMille" during the 90th anniversary of Cecil B. DeMille's filming of the epic Ten Commandments in the Guadalupe-Nipomo Dunes.

Guests are invited to dress in their favorite 1920s clothing to commemorate the Ten Commandments filming that took place in 1923. The Guadalupe Cultural Arts and Education Center will be open in conjunction with the Dunes Center for this event. 

 

 

Kathleen Goddard Jones Memorial Nature Hike
Black Lake Ecological Are, 10:00am to Noon on Saturday, July 6th     

The Dunes Center will be leading a hike through the Black Lake area owned by the Land Conservancy of San Luis Obispo County in honor of Kathleen Goddard Jones' birthday. In the 1960s, Jones worked for the preservation of the Guadalupe-Nipomo Dunes as open space for the enjoyment of the general public. The first 25 arrivals will receive a complimentary copy of Defender of the Dunes: The Kathleen Goddard Jones Story.

Directions: The approximate address for the hike location is 1150 Mesa View Drive, Arroyo Grande, CA 93420.  Look for Randy Lane, an unmarked dirt road that goes over the railroad tracks. Drive over the railroad tracks and past the gates on the left hand side towards the eucalyptus trees, park in between the trees in the open area.

The Dunes Center is organizing a trash-art exhibit which will display works of art inspired by or created from trash. We want to showcase local creativity and encourage the average person to reconceptualize the items we throw away. To submit an application, go to our art gallery page
The exhibit will run July through October and we would like all submittals by June 14th.

The Dunes Center is currently displaying oil paintings by local artist Betsee Talavera. Come check out the Dunes Center and peruse her paintings depicting the natural wonders of the Oso Flaco Lake region.

Fundraising for the Fourie Research Room

Ten Commandent Artifact at the Gudalupe Nipomo Dunes

The Dunes Center is looking for special sponsors who are willing to support the preservation of our collections so that future students and researchers can utilize our valuable pieces of local heritage. Donations will support the maintenance of the Oliver Fourie Research Library at the Dunes Center and will have a long-term impact on the organization. Click here to donate. Celebrate Guadalupe's Heritage


The Dunes Center is seeking vintage photographs of Guadalupe and the dunes region stretching from Pismo Beach to Point Sal. The organization will be publishing a book with Arcadia Publishing, a national publishing company that focuses on local histories.
