Guadalupe Students In the Dunes

700x300Thanks to a grant from NOAA, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Agency, the Cachuma Resource Conservation District and the Guadalupe-Nipomo Dunes Center has teamed up to administer the B-WET program, an environmental education program that promotes locally relevant and experiential  learning. Dune Forum Student Authors Sign Their Published Work

Author signing 700x300Last summer, the Dunes Center piloted our first ever creative writing program in various elementary and middle schools around the Central Coast. The goal of this course was to teach students to analyze and appreciate nature through their writing and artwork. Each week, the Dunes Center’s education intern, Hanna Navarro, taught students a lesson about the local dunes ecosystem. Students would then write poems and stories about what inspired them in the lesson. (more…)

Art Exhibition Opens January 10th

Jules Reuter Roadscape 2 700x300This winter, the Dunes Center is fortunate to host artist, Jules Reuter and his exhibition, “On the Road.” Jules was inspired on two road trips across the United States, traveling by train from Guadalupe to Newark, New Jersey and by car up Highway One to the Olympic Peninsula in Washington and east to Montana. Intern Program Provides Important Experiences for College Students

A Successful Trees of the Season

DSC_1008On the night of December 6th, friends and families filled the Dunes Center for Trees of the Season, an end of the year event to raise funds for the following year’s nature education programs. Generous supporters sponsored twenty four beautifully decorated trees and wreaths, accompanied with presents donated by businesses from around the Central Coast. Guests enjoyed bacon wrapped shrimp, taquitos, and other delicious treats that were donated by local restaurants. (more…)

New Pathway at the Guadalupe Native Plant Garden

Located on 7th Street and Campodonico Ave, the garden is home to many beautiful native plants and the insects, spiders and butterflies that call the coastal ecosystem home. (more…)
